It’s cheeringly conceptual. Same essence different appearance. The essence is the clapping video. When multiplied, the videos loose synchronization, where then the world of Applause begins. The versions are unique and are created by integration of objects and display-hardware found in place.

Unique versions by now, partly depending on what was available at the venue:

  • Quellwassertransport, Neustadt (DE) 2021 – where it was developed originally on the plattorm of the SpellTimeAlpha installation
  • LPM Apulia, Nardo (IT) 2021 – Outdoor installation with hanging mini-TVs and central TV in the forest
  • Visual Brazil, Barcelona (ES) 2023 – with the Lightspiral, hanging mini-TVs and a dead flatscreen
  • VJ Experience III, Nice (FR) 2023 – hanging-miniTVs with a french icon: the baguette
  • Digilog, Loutraki (GR) 2024 – multiple bigger TVs
    • at Narcotic Anonymous
    • at the Closing Concert
  • Oasis Project, Corinth (GR) 2024 – two different arrangements on each day with big TVs

Technically:

  • Raspberry Pis are used as players. They are independently playing from a local source or over the network for bigger installations.
  • The loss of sync is intended, that makes the applause effect from multiple single clappings. Error? -> Feature!
